James Brown is a principal with Bose Public Affairs Group and works in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.

Prior to joining Bose, he was director for advocacy in the American Chemical Society’s Office of Public Affairs, where he managed a six-person government affairs team to advance the Society’s interests on a broad array of science and technology, education and workforce, energy and environment, and chemical industry matters. While at ACS, Brown led successful efforts to create new programs at the Department of Energy to bolster university-level nuclear science training, expand efforts at the National Science Foundation to aid high-school science laboratories and foster basic research to develop green chemistry practices, and increase funding for the Department of Education’s Math and Science Partnership program. He also served as the co-chair of the STEM Education Coalition, a 500 member advocacy alliance of business, science and technology, and education organizations.
